IMHO : AI should be embraced rather than feared. There is far more to be gained than lost, and it is worth all the risk

Prometheus's fire was the symbol of technology's duplicity. Now, the subject of the duplicity has changed, the AI. People usually fear new technology. However, as the history of the industrial revolution and the Luddites movement reveals, AI would bring more benefits: no more work and a more clean society.

AI will make humans don't have to work anymore by eliminating the concept of 'rest'. Do 4 years old children rest? They don't have the concept of rest because they don't need to work. After the ultimate AI is made, it will do all the work that humans have done, and humans will be free from the duty of work. All procedure of economy-from producing to marketing-will be done by the AI, and it will make people don't worry about how to earn money but what to do, as a hobby. For the whole life from birth to death, there will be free time at all. Humans will not rest, but every moment they will do what they used to call 'rest'. To make a metaphor, humans will be the gods of Olympus.

Also, AI will help society gain objectivity. Corruption is inevitable when people work in political power, and machines are a good means to prevent it. In making an objective and optimal decision, machines were not used for political purpose, due to the lack of technology. However, the ultimate AI will be capable of doing that, not wasting money and make procedure efficient. With its encrypted algorithm, no human error and no illegal lobby will be accepted. It will make society cleaner; Corrupt politicians and frustrating administrative officials will disappear. It will eventually bring society honestness and absurdity will be gone.

To recap, AI provides a better future for individuals and society by its infinite workforce and reliable objectivity. The ultimate AI is yet to come, but its great advantage justifies the necessity of embracing the AI rather than fearing it. At the crossroads of the decision on weighting the duplicity, humans first chose a fire, later they chose machines, and it is time to choose AI.

  1. Interesting opinions. Too rosy? I actually agree with most of what you say, though the darker side of it can't be ignored. If AI doesn't tolerate "human error" and eliminates corruption, what does that mean for art? What does that mean for morality? What does that mean for an infinite number of things that rely, in some small part, on humanness and - essentially - error? That said, it might be nice to see an AI algorithm clean up politics. Especially in the US.
