Inspired by image in Designersparty: The thing that even time cannot change


     This is the image of Haeundae beach, taken from the left side, heading to the right side where the Westin Chosun Hotel is. I could not stop surprising because that is the place where I used to visit for almost 15 years since I lived in Busan. The Hotel was built in 1978, therefore, at least 30 years are passed from this picture is taken, and that brought me the point to write this post.

     What I really surprised was that it really didn't change. It is just the same scene when we go there. Of course, clothes and some details are changed, but the atmosphere is the same. 30 years were gone but the way people enjoy the beach did not change. Humans didn't change, and I then reached to the point that humans are the thing that even time cannot change. Every human, old generation or new, is the same, in front of the beach. Individuals can change, but to think of a group of people, they tend to seem like same human group. Maybe that's because of the instinct embedded on DNA, or just culture dependency. The important thing is that humans didn't change. It is a new inspirational thought to me.

     I would have not thought of the title if it weren't for Westin Chosun Hotel and my memory in Busan. The discovery of that image was so lucky. Thanks for the photographer, for bringing me an inspiration.

    Very true. The more things change, the more they stay the same. I've stayed in this hotel before, and even visiting Busan after a year or two there is always a huge change. I'm happy to see at least one student choose to be inspired by the Designer Party materials. Your writing is really philosophical, and even though it isn't grammatically perfect, the more you write in this vein the more that will develop. Good stuff.

Seating on the priority seat

     It was last Saturday, after a 12-hour-trip in Hongdae including cooking, shopping, and so many other things. The time was 10:30 PM in a subway bounded to home, and I had to stay at the subway for one hour and thirty minutes more. I was extremely exhausted and my knee disease had started an hour ago. I was barely standing at the subway.      I was standing in front of the priority seat, that has been empty for the last thirty minutes. For the first fifteen minutes, I did not think of sitting on it because it was culturally tabooed even it was legal to sit on if it is empty. However, the painful situation made me think of the legitimacy of sitting there. I once had a debate with the motion 'Is it okay to sit on the priority seat' when I was a child. I was at the okay side, arguing for the conditional responsibility which means I had a duty to give up my seat only when there is elderly in transportation.      I soon realized that I had no problem even if I sit in there.

IMHO : AI should be embraced rather than feared. There is far more to be gained than lost, and it is worth all the risk

     Prometheus's fire was the symbol of technology's duplicity. Now, the subject of the duplicity has changed, the AI. People usually fear new technology. However, as the history of the industrial revolution and the Luddites movement reveals, AI would bring more benefits: no more work and a more clean society.      AI will make humans don't have to work anymore by eliminating the concept of 'rest'. Do 4 years old children rest? They don't have the concept of rest because they don't need to work. After the ultimate AI is made, it will do all the work that humans have done, and humans will be free from the duty of work. All procedure of economy-from producing to marketing-will be done by the AI, and it will make people don't worry about how to earn money but what to do, as a hobby. For the whole life from birth to death, there will be free time at all. Humans will not rest, but every moment they will do what they used to call 'rest'. To make a
